Abstract

The roles of guidance and counselling service in reinventing the Nigeria’s education for global competitiveness cannot be measured. This paper has surveyed the panacea to reinventing the Nigeria’s education for global competitiveness. It has been observed that effective implementation of guidance and counselling services in schools is an enormous task that requires concerted effort by all educational stakeholders. Stakeholders therefore should totally accept to do their best, be focused and committed to follow the principles and ethics of the profession, have mutual trust and respect for each other as a team in their working relationship. We wish to conclude by remarking that, driving the Nigeria’s education for global competition demands educational excellence. In order for the Nigerian education system to reach the level of excellence required full and effective implementation of guidance and counselling services in the school system, as it forms the integral parts of academic excellence.
